Commissioning a piece of art is a very personal process and a true collaboration between the artist and the collector. Over the years, Thomas Easley has completed more than a hundred commissions for private homes and corporate offices in Asia, Europe and North America.
The process starts with a consultation where the collector outlines his or her vision for the painting. This conversation, which can take place in person, on the phone or by video-conferencing, can include a discussion about the size of the art, where it will be placed, and the colors the client is partial to. Typically, Thomas will create a “study” for the client, which is a rough sketch and includes all the important components of the paintings. He will begin the work only when he and the client have settled on a shared vision for the art. As a result, each commission is individual to the collector and a unique Easley.
